After a hot summer, many of us struggle to get used to the change in weather that fall brings. Mornings are already very cold and it’s often damp, rainy and windy outside. So you don’t spend the whole day like a frozen icicle or, worse, catch a cold, we have a few tips that are guaranteed to get your blood flowing!

A big cup of warming tea

You surely know the feeling: you finally get home, completely frozen or soaked, and you feel awful. There are several proven ways to warm up. The first is definitely hot tea – reach for loose-leaf Ginkgo biloba tea or grate into a big mug a good dose of fresh ginger. Spicy, fragrant blends containing cinnamon and cloves are also great. Just thought of punch or mulled wine? Of course, these are also great warmers, especially popular at Christmas markets. You can treat yourself to them already now, ahead of time, in the comfort of your home and your favorite slippers.

A bowl of hearty soup

If grandmas are right about anything, it’s that you should eat soup. It fills you up, provides the energy and nutrients you need and prepares your stomach for the next course. Besides, after eating soup, a feeling of blissful warmth spreads through your whole body. If you’re wondering what warming soup to make, we have some advice. Classics include a strong broth, a thick legume soup or goulash. If you love cream soups, in the fall season you can use all kinds of pumpkins, potatoes and root vegetables, or sweet potatoes. You can season them, for example, with turmeric or chili, which will boost their warming effect even more. If you need not only to warm up but also to help your body fight germs, try onion or garlic soup.

Wellness or a hot bath

Imagine the feeling of sinking into pleasantly warm water… A visit to a spa at this time of year can be more than pleasant! Enjoy some time in a hot tub or warm up all your bones in the sauna, which also strengthens the cardiovascular and immune systems. If you can’t go to a spa or prefer privacy and the comfort of home, a hot bath in the tub will do. Another beneficial option is a salt foot bath, which warms your whole body in 15 minutes. Just fill a basin with hot water and add salt, or even a spoonful of grated ginger.

Quality sleep is the cure for everything

Do you also find that when you don’t get enough sleep at night, you’re cold all day? It’s scientifically proven: when we’re tired, our metabolism slows down and therefore produces less heat. In addition, lack of sleep also contributes to a grumpy mood and weakened immunity, which is very important in this season full of colds and flu. So make sure you don’t go to bed late in the evening and treat yourself to plenty of quality sleep. To stay cozy and warm at night, instead of overheating your bedroom, get a warm thermal duvet and put on socks.

Dress like an onion

This vegetable is great not only for fighting viruses but also as inspiration for dressing on cold days. Instead of one thick sweater, it’s better to wear several thinner layers. You can then adjust them so you feel comfortable at any temperature and in any situation. It’s also worth investing in quality thermal underwear. You can wear it as a base layer under your clothes not only during sports but any time you’re outdoors. Popular items include thermal leggings and thermal shirts. Also remember warm socks throughout the day, which can be thermal too.

Fight the cold with exercise

To be fair to this season, we must also mention the beautiful sunny days when everything is dressed in fall colors and floating gossamer threads announce the arrival of Indian summer. Would you still rather snuggle up at home under the thickest blanket? Sometimes you have to do the opposite and try fighting the cold with exercise. It boosts your metabolism, gives you energy and fills you with endorphins. So head out into nature for your favorite sport or a walk. If it’s really cold outside, wear the thermal underwear we mentioned above. Or at least do 15 minutes of exercise at home.

We hope this article has inspired you and that you’ll enjoy fall to the fullest, warm and cozy, this year. After all, its atmosphere has a unique charm – the smell of roasted chestnuts, pumpkin and candle decorations, colorful leaves and red rose hips… And that feeling when we return to a cozy home in the evening… It’s a nostalgia that belongs only to this season.
